Our professional educators are here to help your child build confidence and knowledge. Each session:
Your child works with the same tutor who provides individualized instruction based on their needs.
Your child's homework is completed and checked for accuracy.
We review and reteach daily classwork and/or learning objectives.
You are informed of progress, homework, upcoming assessments from your child's tutor.
Upcoming projects and exams have been discussed, and assigned a timeline for studying or completion.

FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Christina Lazar is an honor graduate from the University of North Carolina College of Education. Originally from NY, she has worked as a mentor, teacher, coach, and advocate for children for over 20 years. With the support of her former school, parents of students, and colleagues, Christina opened The Lazar Center of Charlotte in 2007. Since then, she has supported hundreds of students as they grow equally in confidence and academic achievement. Her favorite thing about her work is finding that unique key that allows her team to unlock each student’s potential.
Stephanie graduated from CSU Stanislaus in 2010 with a bachelor’s in Social Science with concentrations in history, political science, and geography. She also completed her teaching program, receiving her teaching credential in 2011. Over the last ten years, Stephanie has worked various jobs in the field of education, teaching World History & AP World History, working as an instructional aide in an ASD classroom, substitute teaching, and tutoring privately. She recently moved to Tega Cay and could not be happier about setting down roots here.
Alicia graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Education and certification in Middle School Math. She moved to Charlotte in 2011 and secured a position as a math teacher at Southwest Middle School. During her time at SWMS, she pioneered the Builder’s Club, a community service organization for middle school students. Alicia’s favorite thing about teaching is the opportunity to be part of her student’s lives forever. While she no longer teaches in the traditional classroom, she enjoys working at The Lazar Center.
Andrew is a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. His first major was math, but later switched to Slavic languages and literature. He also has a Masters in Russian and literature. He has been professionally tutoring English, math and history for over six years. He also has extensive experience teaching test prep for the SAT/ACT. He loves the moment students begin to understand difficult topics, he finds it very rewarding to see them improve. During his free time, Andrew enjoys reading, practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and spending time with his family.
Bethany graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, earning her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She moved back to Charlotte and began her teaching career at Tuckaseegee Elementary, where she taught 3rd-grade and 4th-grade math for the past two years. One of her favorite parts about teaching is when she gets to work one-on-one with her students. Bethany finds this to be the best time to develop relationships, provide support and effectively close the gaps. Bethany prides herself on being positive and dedicated to her students!
Samantha graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Political Science and a Minor in Education. After graduating from college, Samantha completed a teacher licensure program so that she could become licensed to teach. She has five years of teaching experience ranging from K-4 and has a passion for building strong readers at a young age. Her favorite part of tutoring is seeing her students accomplish tasks they didn’t think they could do! On the weekends, she hangs out with her family or watches Clemson Football, and her favorite place to visit is the beach.
Jessica is a first-grade teacher in Fort Mill, South Carolina. In 2017, she graduated from Clemson University, obtaining a degree in Early Childhood Education. After a few years in the classroom and learning which areas she loved the most, Jessica returned to school to earn her Masters in Literacy at Clemson University. This fall will be her sixth year teaching first grade. Reading and writing are her favorite subject areas to teach little ones! Jessica loves getting to see her students’ confidence grow as their reading skills grow as well.
Morgan graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Elon University in 2016; shortly after graduation, she relocated to Charlotte to teach high school science as an accredited teacher. After teaching for three years, Morgan moved to Atlanta, GA, to pursue an MPH degree focused on infectious diseases from Emory University. Morgan is excited to be back tutoring in Charlotte, as helping students achieve their academic, college, and career goals are her passion. Morgan’s expertise lies in making complicated science topics digestible for youth. She can’t wait to meet you!
